Introduction
NoteToSelf is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS app.
NoteToSelf is designed with privacy as a fundamental principle. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or usage data.
What We Don't Collect
- Personal information such as names, email addresses, or contact details
- Note content — your thoughts remain completely private on your device
- Archive history — all archived notes stay on your device
- Typing patterns — no analysis of your writing habits or timing
- Usage analytics or tracking of how you use the app
- Device information or technical specifications
- Location data or access to your location
Your Note Privacy
Your notes and archive are stored exclusively on your iPhone using Apple's secure local storage. This information:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not backed up to our servers (we don't have any)
- Is not accessible to us or anyone else
- Is protected by your device's security features
- Cannot be read by the app developer
How Your Data Stays Private
- Local storage only: All data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework
- No internet required: NoteToSelf works completely offline
- No third-party services: We don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking services
- No account creation: No sign-ups, logins, or user accounts
- No cloud sync: Your notes never leave your device
Voice Input Privacy
NoteToSelf uses only the standard iOS keyboard dictation feature:
- Voice input is handled entirely by Apple's built-in keyboard dictation
- We do not directly access any speech recognition services
- All voice processing follows Apple's standard keyboard privacy practices
- Voice dictation can be disabled in iOS Settings if desired
Siri Integration Privacy
NoteToSelf supports Siri Shortcuts for voice commands like "Note to self [your thought]":
- Voice commands are processed by Apple's Siri service according to Apple's privacy policy
- Siri integration is entirely optional and can be disabled
Export Feature
When you use the "Export All Notes" feature:
- Notes are shared using Apple's standard share sheet
- You control where the exported text is sent (email, messages, files, etc.)
- We do not receive copies of exported data
- The export happens directly from your device to your chosen destination
iCloud and Device Backups
If you have iCloud backup enabled, your NoteToSelf data may be included in your personal iCloud backup. This is managed entirely by Apple according to their privacy policy, not ours. We have no access to this backed-up data.
Our Philosophy
NoteToSelf follows the principle of "constraint as liberation" — this extends to your privacy. By constraining ourselves from collecting any data, we liberate you from privacy concerns entirely.
Your thoughts are yours alone.
Terms of Service
Our Terms of Service govern your use of all DigTek mobile applications. By downloading or using any DigTek app, you agree to these terms. For complete details, see our Terms of Service.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change how we handle data (which is unlikely given our no-data approach), we will update this policy and notify users through the App Store.
Any changes will maintain our commitment to privacy-first design and local-only data storage.
