Your Life Data Privacy
Everything you log in Mikro - from reading sessions to creative projects to wellness activities - is stored exclusively on your iPhone using Apple's secure local storage. This information:
- Never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it
- Is not backed up to our servers (we don't have any)
- Is not accessible to us or anyone else
- Is protected by your device's security features
- Cannot be read by the app developer
- Remains private even when generating patterns and insights
How Your Data Stays Private
- Local storage only: All data is stored locally using Apple's UserDefaults with JSON encoding
- No internet required: Mikro works completely offline
- No third-party services: We don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking services
- No account creation: No sign-ups, logins, or user accounts
- No cloud sync: Your life patterns never leave your device
- Zero dependencies: No external libraries or frameworks that could compromise privacy
Auto-Complete and Smart Features
Mikro's context-aware auto-complete and smart title generation work entirely on your device:
- Auto-complete suggestions are generated from your own previous entries
- Pattern recognition happens locally using your data only
- Smart titles and insights are computed on-device
- No learning data is sent to external servers
- Your activity patterns are analyzed locally and privately
Export and Sharing Features
When you use Mikro's export functionality (CSV, Markdown, JSON):
- Data is exported using Apple's standard share sheet
- You control where the exported data is sent
- We do not receive copies of exported data
- Export happens directly from your device to your chosen destination
- Exports include discrete attribution: "Generated by Mikro - digtek.app/mikro"
- You can share individual activity entries via the app's sharing feature
Mindful Insights and Pattern Recognition
Mikro's "Patterns" tab generates insights about your activities:
- All pattern analysis happens locally on your device
- No behavioral data is sent to external services
- Insights are computed in real-time from your local data
- Pattern recognition follows our "anti-quantified-self" philosophy
- No judgment algorithms or optimization pressure
Onboarding and First-Time Experience
Mikro includes a brief onboarding flow for new users:
- Onboarding completion is tracked locally using @AppStorage
- This preference stays on your device only
- No data about onboarding completion is transmitted
- You can reset onboarding by deleting and reinstalling the app
iCloud and Device Backups
If you have iCloud backup enabled, your Mikro data may be included in your personal iCloud backup. This is managed entirely by Apple according to their privacy policy, not ours. We have no access to this backed-up data.
Third-Party Services
Mikro uses only Apple's built-in frameworks such as SwiftUI for the interface, UserDefaults for local data storage, and Combine for reactive programming. These are Apple's own services and follow Apple's privacy practices.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect your data, there's nothing for us to provide access to, correct, delete, or transfer to other services. Your privacy is already completely protected by design.
You maintain complete control over your life logging data through:
- Local data ownership
- Export capabilities in multiple formats
- Ability to delete the app and all data at any time
- No lock-in to external services
