MemoryAnchor is built on the principle of "privacy by design." We believe your thoughts, memories, and personal information should remain completely under your control, stored securely on your device.
What We Don't Collect

- Memory content - all your text, images, videos, audio, and links stay on your device
- Memory positions, importance levels, or reinforcement patterns
- Usage analytics or tracking of how you use the app
- Memory analytics data or health scores
- Movement mode preferences (Natural vs Precise)
- Multimedia content or sharing behavior
- Device information or technical specifications
- Location data or access to your location
- Timestamps or frequency of memory access
Your Memory Data Privacy
Everything you store in MemoryAnchor - from text notes to photos, videos, and audio recordings - is stored exclusively on your iPhone using Apple's secure SwiftData framework. This information:
- Never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it
- Is not backed up to our servers (we don't have any)
- Is not accessible to us or anyone else
- Is protected by your device's security features
- Cannot be read by the app developer
- Remains private even when generating analytics and insights
How Your Data Stays Private
- Local storage only: All data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework
- No internet required: MemoryAnchor works completely offline
- No third-party services: We don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking services
- No account creation: No sign-ups, logins, or user accounts
- No cloud sync: Your memories never leave your device
- Zero dependencies: No external libraries or frameworks that could compromise privacy
Memory Analytics and Insights
MemoryAnchor's analytics dashboard and memory insights work entirely on your device:
- Memory health scores are calculated locally from your data only
- Fade timing analysis happens on-device with no external processing
- Usage pattern recognition uses your local data exclusively
- Smart recommendations are generated without any data transmission
- All analytics remain private and are computed in real-time
Multimedia Content Privacy
When you add photos, videos, or audio recordings to your memory anchors:
- All multimedia files are stored in your device's Documents directory
- Camera access is only used when you actively choose to take photos or record videos
- Microphone access is only used when you actively choose to record audio
- No multimedia content is transmitted off your device
- Media files remain under your complete control
- Sharing multimedia happens directly through Apple's share sheet to your chosen destinations
Movement Modes and Physics
Your preference between Natural Mode (physics) and Precise Mode (grid) is stored locally:
- Movement mode preferences are saved using Apple's @AppStorage
- Physics simulation calculations happen entirely on-device
- Memory positioning data never leaves your device
- No usage data about mode preferences is collected
Sharing and Export Features
When you use MemoryAnchor's sharing functionality:
- Sharing happens using Apple's standard share sheet
- You control where shared content is sent
- We do not receive copies of shared data
- Sharing happens directly from your device to your chosen destination
- Shared content includes discrete attribution when appropriate
Permissions and Device Access
MemoryAnchor requests minimal permissions only when needed:
- Camera: Only accessed when you choose to take photos or record videos
- Microphone: Only accessed when you choose to record audio
- Photo Library: Only accessed when you choose to select existing media
- No location, contacts, calendar, or other sensitive data access
- All permissions are requested transparently when first needed
Onboarding and Settings
MemoryAnchor includes onboarding and settings preferences:
- Onboarding completion is tracked locally using @AppStorage
- Settings preferences remain on your device only
- No data about feature usage or onboarding behavior is transmitted
- You can reset preferences by deleting and reinstalling the app
iCloud and Device Backups
If you have iCloud backup enabled, your MemoryAnchor data may be included in your personal iCloud backup. This is managed entirely by Apple according to their privacy policy, not ours. We have no access to this backed-up data.
Third-Party Services
MemoryAnchor uses only Apple's built-in frameworks such as SwiftUI for the interface, SwiftData for local data storage, AVFoundation for multimedia recording, and Core Haptics for tactile feedback. These are Apple's own services and follow Apple's privacy practices.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect your data, there's nothing for us to provide access to, correct, delete, or transfer to other services. Your privacy is already completely protected by design.
You maintain complete control over your memory data through:
- Local data ownership
- Sharing capabilities when you choose
- Ability to delete the app and all data at any time
- No lock-in to external services
